* From 1971-1973 SWPA was known as the "ASPA Task Force on Women in Public Administration"; Joan Fiss Bishop was the Chair. From 1973-1983 SWPA was known as ASPA's "National Committee for Women in Public Administration (NCWPA)"; June Martin was the first Chair. * In 1982 SWPA became known as ASPA's Section for Women in Public Administration; Jana Lee Bagwell was the last chair of the NCWPA and was appointed as the first Chair of the new SWPA. **** In 1983 Carol Gandy became the first elected Chair of the new SWPA.
