The 70th ASPA National Conference in Miami, Florida, March 20-24, 2009 is over. It was great seeing so many SWPA members there! There were many conference highlights.

At the SWPA National Awards Breakfast, the four 2009 Award recipients were honored. They are:

• The Joan Fiss Bishop Award for Outstanding Contributions to Public Administration and Increased Participation of Women in the Profession awarded to Becky L. Schergens, Chairman of the Southern Methodist Universities Libraries Executive Board.
• The Julia Henderson Award for Outstanding Contributions to International Public Administration awarded to Laurel McFarland, Executive Director of the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration.
• The Rita Mae Kelley Award recognizing Outstanding Research in Gender Related Issues awarded to Kathe Callahan, Assistant Professor in the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University Newark and Assistant Professor of Urban Health Administration at the UMDNJ School of Public Health.
• The Marcia P. Crowley Award for Outstanding Service to SWPA awarded to Diana Noli Hill, Court Administrator for the City of Phoenix/Municipal Court.

In addition to honoring the Award winners, the SWPA Conference Scholarship recipients Wendy Xinfang Gao, Kim Moloney and Rhucha Samudra were honored.
