Robert R. (Bobby) Green

Mr. Green opened his remarks by citing three important observations related to his topic. Nearly thirty years ago, he recalled a conference session that discussed the ‘greying of the profession.’ Ten years later he had learned of what was called the ‘quiet crisis.’   Another decade following that observation, the same problem exists only it is now called ‘a silver tsunami.’   The concerning issue is happening as the ‘Baby Boomer’ generation is retiring from public service while other demographic cohorts are reluctant or unprepared to enter the profession.  READ MORE . . .

Bobby has served as City Manager of Auburndale, FL for over twenty-six years. In 2016 he was recognized by the ICMA as a finalist for the Route Fifty Navigator Awards as one of the top ten leaders in state and local government throughout the United States for his efforts in fostering the next generation of local government managers. He currently serves as President of the Florida City/County Management Association.
