American Review of Public Administration

The American Review of Public Administration aspires to be the premier academic journal in the field of public affairs and public administration. As an assiduously peer-reviewed journal, the American Review of Public Administration features articles that address rapidly emerging issues in public affairs and public administration, and is open to both traditional and non-traditional approaches. Of particular interest are theory-based empirical research; reviews or syntheses of research; and conceptual/theoretical discussions on or over the boundaries of traditional public affairs and public administration.

Manuscripts are subjected to blind peer review, typically accomplished in less than ninety days. Time from final acceptance to publication is normally nine to twelve months. Acceptance rate for manuscripts submitted over the last four years has averaged seventeen percent.

Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically to http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/arpa where authors will be required to set up an online account on the SageTrack system powered by ScholarOne. Submission of a manuscript implies a commitment by the author to publish in the journal, if the manuscript is accepted, and the editors assume that any manuscript submitted to ARPA is not currently under consideration by any other journal. Manuscripts between 20 and 30 pages are especially welcome. Manuscripts are subjected to blind peer review and require the author's name(s) and affiliation listed in a separate file. Any other identification, including any references in the manuscript, the notes, the title, and reference sections should be removed from the paper and listed in a separate file. Accepted submissions must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), latest edition. Each submission should also include an abstract between 100-150 words and a brief biographical sketch of each author, in separate files.
