Introduction and Purpose of the Book

The edited book Comparative E-Government: An Examination of E-Government Adoption across Countries will examine the adoption of electronic government or e-government throughout the world. E-government is defined as digital means for citizens and businesses to contact and work with government. E-government is a global phenomenon, and its adoption is critical for government since it provides outreach to its citizens and businesses.

This edited book is in search of chapters from e-government scholars on the adoption of e-government in different countries. The focus will be on both developed and developing countries, examining the benefits and challenges of e-government adoption in nations throughout the world. Comparisons of e-government adoption across several nations would provide particularly interesting chapter contributions.

Audience for the Book

The primary audience for the edited book Comparative E-Government will be university professors, graduate students, and professionals in the information systems field. Another audience would be government officials throughout the world that are in the process of adopting or evaluating e-government projects in their respective countries. This edited book will provide practitioners with useful information from different countries' experiences with e-government adoption.

Recommended Topics

Comparative E-government will examine e-government across the different continents throughout the world. There will be sections on e-government adoption examining specific countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, and South America. Chapters will also be devoted to comparing two or more countries in their adoption of e-government. Chapter contributions examining underrepresented areas of e-government research are especially welcome.
