KAREN WALZ-FUENTES - PRESIDENT

Karen Walz-Fuentes received her MPA from George Mason University (2000). She currently works for the Fairfax County Office of Partnerships as a Program Manager for the Computer Learning Centers Partnership (CLCP). Previously she has worked in the private sector providing human service programming for the City of Alexandria, and worked for the Fairfax County Office for Children’s School Age Child Care (SACC) program for 15 years. She serves as one of 26 national reviewers for the Academy of Educational Development’s “Promising Practices in Afterschool Systems”.



DAVID ELLIS - Membership Chair

In 2001 David was selected as one of ten members of the initial Fairfax County - George Mason University MPA cohort and received his degree in 2003. He has 17 years experience with Fairfax County Government, serving in various capacities and currently serves as the County's Neighborhood Services Coordinator, in the Office of the County Executive. He has served on the since 2001 and currently serves<> as chapter President.



YUKI ANN GRAVES - SECRETARY

A career Headquarters, Department of the Army civilian with 35 years of progressive management and leadership experience in Army Plans & Operations, Logistics, Manpower and Force Management. Previous/current professional affiliations include: President, National Chapter, Army Management Staff College, Member, American Society of Military Comptrollers, Member, Society of Logistics Engineers, Member, American Society for Public Administration. Graduated from George Mason University's Master of Public Administration program. Looking forward to serving the Northern Virginia Chapter.



CATHY WILTSE - TREASURER

Cathy is the Associate State Director for the Virginia Small Business Development Center Network, a grant awarded to George Mason University by the SBA. Previously Cathy was a Senior Internal Auditor at George Mason University. She has also worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles in customer service. Prior to that she had several entrepreneurial ventures and worked in the private sector in telecomm and property management. Cathy received a Masters in Public Administration from GMU in 2003.



KAREN L. BUNE

Karen L. Bune is employed by the Office of the State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County, Maryland and works as a Victim Specialist/Legal Assistant in the domestic violence unit. She has worked in the criminal justice system for 28 years—the last 13 years have been in victim services. She also serves as a consultant on victim issues for the Office for Victims of Crime, U. S. Department of Justice, and she is a nationally recognized speaker and consultant in the victim services field. In addition, Ms. Bune is an Adjunct Professor at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia and George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in victimology. Ms. Bune is also a Lecturer at American University, Washington, D. C. where she teaches criminology. Ms. Bune is Board Certified in Domestic Violence and Traumatic Stress, and she is a Fellow of The Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.



COLLEEN COLLINS

Colleen A. Collins graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration and is currently working on her Masters in Public Administration. She is employed with Fairfax County Public Schools in the Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Vision Services in the Finance Department. She manages all of the procurement and budget tasks for an office of educational professionals. She and her family currently reside in Fairfax, Virginia.


NANCY POMERLEAU

Nancy M. Pomerleau has served in executive, management and policy positions for local, state, federal, state, and international agencies and the private sector on environmental and national security matters. Such government agencies included the U.S. Congress, Office of Management and Budget, Departments of State, Defense and Army, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, State of California, Contra Costa County, California and the Environmental Ministry in Paris, France. Currently she is exercise director for the Infrastructure Coordination Division, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Pomerleau holds Masters degrees in National Resource Strategy, Engineering Management and Environmental Management and an undergraduate degree in Biology. She is an avid rower.



JAMES SMALL

James currently works as a Project Manager at CACI and is a PhD student in Public Administration at Walden University. He has a Master of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and is a retired military officer with 26 years of service. James is also an adjunct Professor, teaching courses in Politics, Public Administration and American Government at Central Texas College in Washington, DC.
