Preparing
for the Retirement Wave: New
thinking on how hiring experienced, older workers can avoid a
massive loss of talent and knowledge.
At
this timely and relevant event, speakers included: Gregory
Merrill, President and CEO, National Older Worker Career
Center
who presented "The Upside of the Silver
Tsunami." Also, Bob Lavigna, Vice President of Research, The Partnership for
Public Service
presented an overview of the Partnership’s report
“A Golden Opportunity: Recruiting Baby Boomers into
Government.”

Coalition for Effective
Change presents: "ETHICS
AND POLITICS DURING A TIME OF TRANSITION"
This
event included an
ethics
overview for federal employees and federal associations presented
by
Marilynn Glenn, General Counsel
Office of Government Ethics). A presentation
about The
Hatch Act-What you can and can’t do during an election and
a transition was presented by Ana
Galindo-Marrone,
Chief, Hatch Act Unit Office of Special Counsel).
There was also a
Panel Discussion with the topic of Special ethics situations for associations
and members.

FEIAA
2008 Executive Forum/FEI 40th Anniversary Event
At
this event, FEIAA honored the Federal Executive Institute's
40th Anniversary with this year's forum focusing on
"Trusted Leadership for Federal Service."
Lillian Brown, CBS News makeup expert of choice for six U.S.
Presidents (from Kennedy to William Clinton) spoke, as did
OPM Director Linda Springer, recently appointed FEI Director
Kevin Marshall, and current and former FEI Deans of Faculty,
Peter Ronayne and Terry Newell.

Holiday
Networking Event/Celebration
Our
annual
holiday
networking event/celebration was a unique opportunity to interface with some of public
administration's top talents and up and coming leaders while
enjoying great food and drinks in an elegant DC setting. Offering
remarks during our get-together was John Salamone, Executive
Director of the Chief Human Capital Officers Council to discuss with John some
of the biggest challenges facing Government HR.

NCAC Annual
Awards Ceremony and Medina Lecture
Presented in
conjunction with Government Executive magazine and IBM, this event
presented a stimulating view of management from across the federal
spectrum. This year’s recipients included General James Clapper,
Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence; Robert Shea, Associate
Director for Management, Office of Management and Budget; Frank
Anderson, Jr., President, Defense Acquisition University; and Myra
Shiplett, Senior Advisor, National Academy of Public Administration.

March 23-27, 2007: |
ASPA Annual Conference,
"Monumental Possibilities: Capitalizing on Collaboration"
ASPA's 68th annual conference was held
this year in Washington, DC from . This year's
conference, Monumental Possibilities: Capitalizing on
Collaboration, focused on collaboration across sectoral
and governmental lines and explore ways to collaborate
for the advancement of the common good. It featured
sessions on accountability and performance, succession
planning, ethics, multisector workforce, issues in the
federal service, social equity, threat and disaster
response and many more. Up to 1,200 people attend. As
the local Host Committee, our chapter was be a key part
of the success of the conference, assisting the national
staff in a variety of areas. |
