Metro Louisville ASPA Community Reception with US Congressman John Yarmuth (Friday October 24, 6-7:30pm) |

The Metropolitan Louisville American Society for Public Administration (Metro Louisville ASPA) in partnership with University of Louisville’s Department of Urban and Public Affairs is hosting a reception with U.S. Congressman John Yarmuth on Friday, October 24, 2008 from 6-7:30 pm at the University Club. Students, professionals, faculty, and the general public are invited to attend. This is a great opportunity to hear the priorities of our Congressman, as well as network with others involved in public service. We hope you will join us to hear from Congressman John Yarmuth, connect with colleagues, and learn more about ASPA. Refreshments and cash bar will be available. Complementary parking will be available in the University Club’s parking lot. Admission is $3 for students, $5 for the general public, and free for ASPA members. ASPA Student Paper Competition (Deadline: October 6, 2008) |

Introduction: The contest seeks to highlight and reward students who are pursuing degrees in the field of public affairs. We seek student papers that address topics in public affairs, such as public administration, non-profit organizations, leadership, economic development, human resource management, urban governance, workforce development, and public budgeting. Eligibility Requirements: · All applicants must be current graduate students enrolled in a masters or doctoral program. · The education institution must be located within the Louisville-Southern Indiana Metropolitan area. · Papers must be unpublished. · Group papers are welcomed Papers Requirements: The papers submitted for this competition must be: · typed, double-spaced, on 8 ½” x 11” paper format · written in standard English. · the original work of the author(s). · limited to 2,000 and 3,000 words · electronically submitted in MSWord or PDF format to dr.bright@louisville.edu Awards: The author(s) of the winning paper will announced and awarded at Metro Louisville ASPA’s Award reception that is being held on October 24th. The winners will receive a plaque of recognition, paid admission to Louisville’s 2009 SeCOPA conference (worth $150), and a monetary award of $100. Evaluation Criterion: The papers will be judged in terms of topic relevance, originality, and contribution to the field of public affairs, clarity, and writing quality. |
